Annual meeting of the European Masorti rabbis in 2006
We are very happy that the annual meeting of the European Region of the Rabbinical Assembly took place in Berlin for the second time after 2005.
From December 11th to 13th 2006,
20 rabbis from all over Europe and the president of the Rabbinical Assembly in New York, Rabbi Alvin Berkun, the executive director of the Rabbinical Assembly, Rabbi Joel
Meyers and the ass exec. director, Rabbi Elliot Schoenberg, gathered in Berlin.
At this meeting, Rabbi Gesa Ederberg was elected Vice President - Treasurer. Other board members are Rabbi Rivon Krygier (Paris) and Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg (London).
Jewish life in Germany and Berlin, discussing the issue "How a Synagogue system works" with Dr. Suzanne Stier and text studies with Rabbi Reuven Hammer were the main topics of this meeting.
The conference took place in old and new places in Berlin: in the rooms of the American Jewish Committee (where the group was welcomed by director Deidre Berger), in the former Academy of Science of Judaism, now the Central Council of Jews in Germany (where the group was welcomed by Nathan Kalmanowicz), in the Masorti kindergarten and the Oranienburger Strasse Synagogue.
In addition, we were very happy to welcome 50 guests for an event at the Centrum Judaicum with tasty food, music and exciting talks.
The highlight of this conference was a meeting and discussion with the Federal Minister of the Interior, Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble, who spent an hour discussing current religious and political issues with us. We are grateful for the financial support of the Ministry of the Interior for this conference.
Annual Meeting of the European Masorti rabbis in May 2005

Twenty rabbis from Europe, Israel and the US took part in the exciting discussions and exchange of experience. The European Region of the Rabbinical Assembly was officially established during this meeting.
During this conference, a common strategy for cooperation on a European level was developed.
The Executive Board of the European Region of the Rabbinical Assembly has been meeting several times in London and Paris since its establishment in Berlin 2005.
